notes meeting 16th march 2023

Cross talks
send EBS code to Jachim Keil

for MDT 22nd march
lifetime minimization and inj efficiency optimizaiton with several quadrupoles
some test took place in PETRAIII 15th march.
LM test and update of lifetime calculation. check on tech side that interaction with machine is working.
BV : plotted values, but values do no seem to be sent synchronized.

SML show preliminary result for ES

LM no update on TbT studies. MDT end of April in PETRA III
LM more settings to be defined.
NC discussion in separated meeting about the MDT program for measurement in PETRAIII. Will look at reproducibility. will put a known set of errors and see if the errors may be found.

LM, TH, progressing conversion
all translation merged to master.
full core of SC is transalted in various states.
some plot functions are not totally python, some part is still in matlab.
ESRF will take care of plots.
MAtlab allows many "implict" code. the translation is thus more difficult in this case.
new objects in python
deepcopy wrappers for pyAT
clean up inconsistency, cleaning up as much possible, but keeping the same code.
logging tools (rather than print out)
considerably refactored and debugged. may be 50% through.
TH yesterday the example code was running. may be not all corrected, but starts to be able to play and debug.

SL, ESRF plots translation. then HELP and TEST.

Deliverable approved by all present for submission.

BV writing paper on ES. Complex system to deploy papers for submission.  will share Word document.

NC TbT paper will be likely cancelled. not enough material to write a paper. could add a paragraph to paper of LM.

LM ok with NC. will add a paragraph to PETRA-III

SW also agrees to share deliverable.

      update

      From Tom Minniberg:
It is not a problem if also participants from UK, US, China, India, Switzerland, Corea, etc. will participate in the workshop.

I suppose that you would like to exchange ideas, information and different accelerator tools with the colleagues from UK, US, China, India, Switzerland, Corea, etc., correct?

For EURIZON you will claim only costs for organizing the workshop (catering, room rent, technique, etc.). You are not going to invite the colleagues and you are not going to pay their travel expenses, right?

So I don’t see any conflict that the colleagues from UK, US, China, India, Switzerland, Corea, etc. will participate.

Please be careful that you don’t provide confidential project information within this workshop. Within WP4 you have also some Deliverables with confidential contend.

      From Martin Sandhop:
      some additional advice:

If the scientists from those countries are expected to be invited plus reimbursed (travel…), in that case we need to collect the OK by PO (Commission) that they are “external experts”, and should provide the information why their input or contribution would be so relevant (for fulfilling the WP4-task …).

      And:
Please take care of Chinese plus US experts at the same workshop.
Due to much increased political sensitivity with China it sometimes happens that US scientists (for instance from DOE labs) would have to draw back their participation for reasons that Chinese scientists from specific labs are around. Maybe you double check beforehand.

In Germany and EU, such sensitivity has also risen, but not so dramatically as in case of US. But some labs (e.g. of CAEPS academy, or specific universities), collaborations/ joint publications should be really checked critically beforehand. Please have a close look at the Chinese colleagues to be invited…

possible survey to be sent to participants (please give feedback for any modification):
