BV presentation on ES MDT
Hyperparameters of ES have a large impact on the minimization process.
Test on EBS operation lattice model, adjusting the hyperparmeters. NOT possible to know hyper parameters analytically.
800 iterations in simulations, not relistic in CTRM.
MDT tested several hyperparameters.
LM how much time takes a single step: 5seconds.
LC is there anyway to tell the optimizer that it is diverging?
BV, SL we would prefer not to modify ES
NC if you stop when some reduction, local minima can not be avoided. To scan the space of parameters it is normal to go back up and then look again.
LC may be it simply needs a long time.
BV and NC, many steps to find the optimum.
NC try to use few knobs (fmailies for example) and see if it find a better optimum compared to the one-by-one the knobs. Try few knobs and give more times, scanning the parameters. 4-6 knobs may be feasible in a few hours.
BV for the future.
LH could add variation of hyperparameters to speed up the simulation. Immagine J reduces then k would have to be increased. For example in simulations there are some long plateau.
